Q: Leona asked: "I'm wondering if there are any topics out there on using magazine pictures in card making. For example, there are so many beautiful pictures of flowers in magazines that would look beautiful on a card, but I've never heard of anyone using them or how they would use them."

A: The Faux Cloisonne Technique is a great way to use magazine pictures for stamping. You can find instructions in our technique challenge forum. You can also add clear packing tape over an image you like. Rub over it with a bone folder and cut out. Now soak the image in warm water until you can peel the paper off. Let dry and use on card. Brandi has a suggestion for the Mini Photo Book: "When I saw this album, I knew I wanted to try it. Wanting to and having time to are two different things! I finally did try it and ended up altering it a bit. Instead of adhering the cover to the small flap (step 19 and 20) I left it unattached to make an album that can be opened like a book. I used coasters to make the inside "pages" but am a bit of a layering freak, so ended up having to leave one of them out because it was too think to close. My thick pages also made it impossible to attach the chip board "page" to the cover with the jumbo eyelets without having them eventually fall off. To solve this problem, I just added jumbo eyelets to the cover, the page, and the back and held the all together with a loose binder ring. I also used small, extra thin magnets, hidden under the patterned paper to secure the book when it's closed. If this all sounds confusing, you can check out the photos on my blog. I was able to add a lot of pictures by putting it together this way. The next time I make one (which will be soon!) I'll alter the measurements again so I can add even more chipboard pages to it. You'll need patterned paper, ultra thick embossing enamel and a Melting Pot. If you don't have a Melting Pot and the UTEE, pick some clear spray enamel up from the hardware store.
